Seiner Anatomy 8.5" X 11"

$25.00

This drawing shows the inner arrangement of a wooden seine boat, with the decks arranged in an exploded view showing the main work deck, galley, engine room, upper deck and top house.

This boat is typical of mid-century Alaska and Pacific Northwest boats that met the 58-foot limit imposed on salmon seiners by the State of Alaska once statehood was achieved. It is very loosely based on the fishing vessel Challenger of Bellingham WA. It has a crew of four in addition to the captain, with one person cooking, town on the aft deck, and one sleeping.

The drawing will be used as an illustration in Tom's Working Boats book, scheduled for release in the winter of 2020.
